Thirteen well designed courses which we just wanted to order again and again.

The Black Swan by Tommy Banks, Oldstead, Yorkshire.

The Black Swan by Tommy Banks, Oldstead, Yorkshire.

We were met with a slightly cold reception when we bumped into Tommy Banks in the car park before dinner but this did not put me off, perhaps he wanted to maintain the rockstar Chef persona that he probably deserves…The Black Swan has recently been rated the best restaurant in the world by TripAdvisor so I was excited to see what all the rage was about.

Bruut by Bruno Timperman - Bruges, Belgium

Bruut by Bruno Timperman - Bruges, Belgium

Bruut is well worth the 4 hours door to door from London on the Eurostar to Bruges. This is a charming 20 cover restaurant in the heart of the Old Town. The food is made using seasonal, locally sourced ingredients and the methods are technical and innovative with an asian fusion influence.

Smoke & Salt, Brixton POP London.

Smoke & Salt, Brixton POP London.

This place has popped up in a shipping container in Brixton, set up by two guys who started out on the pop-up circuit.

Fäviken by Magnus Nilsson, North Sweden.

Fäviken by Magnus Nilsson, North Sweden.

This is by far one of the most exciting restaurants I have ever experienced. Not only was the food and restaurant sensational and captivating, the journey from London to the depths of the Tundra was exhilarating.
